Organizing, Officially

My stomach tied itself up and I began to sweat. I had not taken an exam since college. Let’s just say it’s been a few years. But there I was, in Austin, TX, taking an exam to earn my Level II certification in Chronic Disorganization from the NSGCD. (Name changing soon to ICD if you’re interested in that sort of thing.)

I sat down, began the test, and filled in the circles with my No. 2 pencil. Flashback to grade school. Well, just as in school, I found the test a cinch and finished in less than 10 minutes. And I passed! I don’t have my Level II certification yet (or Level I for that matter) but I will soon. I am soon to be a CREDENTIALED organizer.

A lot of people have never hired a professional organizer before. Heck, most have never HEARD of a professional organizer. But yes, they are out there.

And now, officially, I am one of them! I have been employed for a few months by Minding Your Matters, an organizing company here in the Raleigh, N.C. area. Up until now, I have been training. I’m about to complete Phase II of the training, and just this week I was promoted to “organizer,” which means I can go out and take on jobs of my own. It will now be up to me to walk into chaos and create order. (Yikes!)

So give me a call if your closet (or life) needs a little TLC.
